In Magento2 Reward Points, the admin can set reward points in five different ways:

  1. Product based Reward Points- The admin can set reward points for a particular product. Reward points can be applied to a particular product by navigating through Reward System-> Manage Reward Points on Product.
  2. Category Based Reward Points- The admin can apply reward points to a particular category or multiple categories by navigating through Reward System->Manage Reward Points on Category.
  3. Cart Based Reward Points- The admin can set reward points on the cart by adding a cart rule in which he has to define a price range and duration for which reward points will be applicable. For this, the admin has to navigate through Reward System-> Manage Reward Points on Cart.
  4. Reward Points on Registration- The admin can also set reward points for customers on successful registration in a web store. For this, the admin has to navigate through Stores->Configuration->Reward System.
  5. Reward Points on Review Submission- The admin can set reward points for a product review which the customers can avail by submitting a review for a product. For this, the admin has to navigate through Stores->Configuration->Reward System.
